Unpolished

leaving me in the darkness

I collected beautiful objects:
the sun, the moon,
even plucked a few stars.
took the lampposts, the headlights
candles, and neon signs
bulbs in mirrors, certain silvers.

brought them together,
until the room was illuminated
all corners suffused with clarity.

but you were not there
a void
an emptiness
a black hole
sucking all the light

leaving me in the darkness.
